So you have bought your first ETH, BTC, or LTC. If you are like me you do not want to leave it on the CoinBase server. For some reason, it just doesn’t feel secure. So you have a few options. It all depends on what you want to do with your Crypto. Do you want to buy another coin like Ripple (XRP) or Reddcoin (RDD)? Here I will cover how to send your Crypto to a different address. Whether it be your personal paper wallet or another exchange. Be sure to check out the Wallet index for a list of wallets and drop me a line if you want to see a tutorial for a different wallet.
There are two ways to send your Crypto to another address. The first way is Easy but CoinBase will charge a small mining fee of whichever Crypto you are sending. This fee will go up or down depending on overall transaction volume currently on the digital currency network. (Because BitCoin is so expensive this fee can actually equal more than 40$ and Ethereum is not far behind these days.)

THE EASY WAY WITH FEE:
If you don’t mind paying the mining fee go to your CoinBase Dashboard and click the Accounts tab.

Once your in the Accounts sections you will click the send button under the Crypto that you want to send.

This will bring up a window asking for the wallet address that you are trying to send to. Here you will enter the PUBLIC key (NEVER USE YOUR PRIVATE KEY) for your personal wallet or the key given to you by the exchange you are sending to. See how to get your wallet address from your exchange.
Before you click Confirm Send make sure your key matches the wallet you are sending to. I recommend double or triple checking this key. (One mistake here will cost you all of the crypto you are sending. This CANNOT be undone!)
Click Confirm and your Crypto will be sent to the wallet address that you entered.
MORE COMPLICATED WITH NO FEES
This method of sending Crypto from CoinBase involves using the Gdax Exchange (CoinBase Owns the GDAX Exchange). Before you can proceed you must register and verify a Gdax account. Use the same info that you used to register with CoinBase. Then just follow the instructions below.
Log into your CoinBase account. Then log into your GDAX account.
Next, just click Deposit.

This will start the process to put Crypto into your Gdax Wallet from your CoinBase wallet.

The steps below are fairly simple.
-
Click on CoinBase account. This will allow you to transfer any currency from your CoinBase wallet to your GDAX wallet.
-
Click which currency you want to send to GDAX. (ETH, BTC, BTH, or LTC)
-
Enter the amount that you want to transfer.
-
Click Deposit Funds to complete the transfer
Once your funds are transferred to GDAX you will then need to withdraw from GDAX wallet to the Exchange or Wallet of your choosing.

Once you click withdraw funds a confirmation window will pop up. Make sure everything is right. Double check that the key you are sending to is the correct key. Either your PUBLIC KEY or the key that you got from another exchange. NEVER USE YOUR PRIVATE KEY TO SEND CRYPTO TO A WALLET!!!
That’s it. You are finished. Now check the receiving wallet every few minutes for your incoming crypto. Keep in mind that Bitcoin is slower than Ethereum and Litecoin. So be patient. If you followed the instructions and double checked all the keys you were using it will arrive shortly. Things like the high amount of traffic on the Coinbase server and Gdax server as well as other exchanges will also affect the speed of the transaction. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to drop me a line using the form below.
